For most LDS
music consumers the Inspirational Music Showcase (IMS)
may be new. The individuals that make up IMS are anything
but new to inspirational LDS music. Collectively they have
over 50 years experience producing, marketing, and distributing
to the LDS market. Doyl Peck is the President and owner of
Sounds of Zion. Greg Hansen is an award winning producer, arranger,
and composer. Earl Madsen has worked for Lex de Azevedo’s
Embryo Music (now Excel Entertainment) and Deseret Book in product
development, project coordination, and marketing.
The goal of IMS is very simple; create
for the LDS music buyer inspiring, encouraging, strengthening music. Music that young and old
alike can enjoy. Music, we sincerely hope, that will bring
people to Christ. We have chosen the words of President Hinckley
found at the top of the page as our mission statement. It is
a guide that keeps us focused on our goals. We strive to make
his words live in each project we produce and sell. This inspired
quote is also found on the back of all the CD’s we produce
and release. Other favorite quotes and scriptures about music
are found on the various pages throughout the site.
We have chosen the “Winged I” as our logo. You
will also find that on the back of all the music, both recorded
and print, that we produce. Wings are spoken of symbolically
throughout the scriptures—Inspiration, Refuge, Healing, Spiritual
Power, Upliftment, and His Power to Bear Us Up—A few of the
ideas and principles wings are used to represent. The “I” represents
the One from whom all inspiration flows.
Music has an amazing power and influence. It reaches the heart,
the mind, and the soul like no other form of art or earthly means
of communication. We hope that when you see the IMS name and
logo on a piece of music or recording you will know that from the
choice of songs to the arrangement and production of the music,
it is created with our mission statement in mind. It is created
for our unique LDS lifestyle. |
